about

This project was born from a night spent alone at an out-of-season hotel on the coast of Massachusetts in October, 2022. I attended a music event nearby and decided to get the cheap room for a bit of peace, and spent much of my time there breaking in my new Roland TR-8S drum machine, smoking some weed, and reflecting on my past, and how I have been growing into a new more mature person. I grieved the loss of my childhood some, but was grateful for the newfound wisdom I am coming into as an adult. I saw the tides wash in and out, and observed bundled-up toddlers playing in the sand as the sun rose after a long night of introspective experiences; a contrast of the endless obliterative cycles of nature against our naïve human fragility and impermanence. It was profoundly beautiful, although made me weep. These songs were actually written this Spring, while going through a breakup after a brief emotional encounter, but the feelings it kicked up, and nostalgic energy that permeates some of the chord and key segments in most of the songs really brought me back to those feelings. Nostalgia is the yearning for a time that has passed, and that is certainly very relevant in this current time of the earth’s collective turmoil. Childhood seems like a surreal dream, a comforting place just out of grasp, but still hovering in the rear-view. The EP consists of 4 songs, exploring a variety of styles while still maintaining that melancholic, nostalgic tone.
